Welcome to the world of a Mocha Mommy on the go! This blog will be a journey with me through motherhood. You are probably wondering who I am and what i’m about, so here’s a little info about me.
I am a sophisticated throwback mama that uses old school knowledge with updated methods and technology to take care of my family. I bake pies and cakes for my family, hang our clothes on a line, clean with baking soda and vinegar, and I know my farmer(s), but I also Google my recipes and home remedies, use my Mac to produce music and write, and utilize my PDA phone to keep up with my families events.
I’ve will be married 5 years come August, I am wife to Anthony, mother to one year old Miles and I am a “stay-at-home mother” that hardly stays home. I am a staunch advocate of breastfeeding, cloth diapering, baby wearing and co-sleeping, sometimes for selfish reasons (which I will explain), but mainly because I know that it’s the best thing for my son.
I love outdoor activities, especially riding my bike, practicing yoga, experimenting with cooking and baking, looking forward to learning to garden and grow my own organic fruits, vegetables, and herbs, and a future home schooler.
I hope to use this blog to encourage other moms stay-at-home and working. I want to share some things that i’ve learned (albeit the hard way) to make things like cooking, cleaning, and caring for my child easier so that I stress less and live more. These things can all be daunting on their own, but combine them all together, and throw kids and a husband in the mix, it can get out of hand. I want to be able to share things that i’ve learned like: recipes, cleaning tips, eating better, sanity savers, tips on making those dollars stretch even further, and also get input from you on tips that have made your lives easier. Other than that, i’ll talk about life, raising my son (and future babies), and loving my husband and family.
I have some very strong opinions about topics like staying home, breastfeeding, co-sleeping and others that you may not agree with, and thats okay! I welcome and encourage discussion. However, I am unapologetic, and unwavering about how I feel because i’ve seen first hand how these things have benefited me and how my family has flourished. I have seen how motherhood has been looked down upon and denigrated, and I believe that stay-at-home mothers in particular should be proud of what they do because it takes a strong woman to stay home and raise her children. I hope that you’ll join me in taking back to JOY of motherhood!
